I know this fight could never take place naturally, in nature, but assuming a large brown or polar bear faced off with a much larger animal, such as a rhino, or hippo, would the bear have a chance of winning?
The larger rhinos may weigh over 6,000 lbs, and stand over 70" at the shoulder. That's about 5'10" at the shoulder. Rhinos are generally about 11 feet in length.
The largest brown bears and polar bears may stand up to 12 feet tall when on it's hind legs, and may measure up to 10.5 feet in lenght. They may also measure around 60" at the shoulder, which is around 5 feet tall. The larger bears may weigh around 1,500 lbs, and have been reported to be able to kill a buffalo with one swipe from it's paw.
In your opinion, what kind of chance would a large brown or polar bear stand against a larger animal, like a rhino, or a hippo?
Can a bear defeat a rhino, hippo, or elephant?
You might want to research this one on Animal Face-Off. What they do is construct robots with the same strength as the animals and make them fight. There is also computer animation involved. In bull shark vs. hippo I believe hippo won. Trying to remember the other animal face-offs. Tell me this: in a fight between Shaquille O'Neal and a silverback gorilla, no guns, who would win? In a fight to the death? Polar bears have trouble killer larger walruses which are similar in a fight to the hippo or rhino. An elephant would beat the bear. Put me down for a c-note on the large herbivore there. Just a guess.
Reply:As powerful as the bear is it wouldn't stand a chance in hell against any of those animals, especially an elephant.
Reply:It depends on the size of the Rhino, Elephant or Hippo was.
Also it concludes on the bear aswell.
The Elephant would probably win and the Rhino, but I dont know about the Hippo.
Reply:I don't think a bear can beat rhinos, hippos or elephants. It's hugely outweighed, and bears even have a hard time with lions or tigers. So i doubt that it will beat the animals mentioned above.
Reply:I'm putting my money on the African critters. Their hide is thick enough to discourage the big cats and their brains are protected from a serious swat by a lot of cancellous bone in the braincase. You meant to say "bison" about the brownies, and they might get lucky, but I'd still bet on the Cape buffalo, though with less certainty.
Reply:I would say that the bear would not do very well. He could only win if he got somehow lucky.
